The guidebook OLYMPUS – 60 Routes is the most comprehensive, most modern, and most up-to-date guide to Mount Olympus. This substantial volume — 264 pages, 60 routes, 65 maps, and 150 photographs — covers every aspect of the mythical mountain. Each route is presented with a detailed description and an accurate map. Technical data and risk and difficulty assessments allow hikers and climbers to choose the route that matches their abilities.

The guide includes 60 different mountaineering routes on Mount Olympus. In practice, it features all the known and more or less marked trails of the great mountain: all ascents to the peaks and refuges, all short popular hikes, and all major traverses. Each route is presented through a thorough description and a detailed map. The technical information and the evaluation of risks and difficulties enable mountaineers to select the route best suited to their skills.

The book was written by Triantafyllos Adamakopoulos and Katerina Zangaretou, a civil engineer and a forester–mountain guide. Beyond their excellent knowledge of Mount Olympus, the two authors apply the scientific methodology of their respective fields to evaluate and synthesize the mountain’s individual features into an exceptionally functional tool for navigation and exploration. In addition to its broad thematic coverage, OLYMPUS – 60 Routes is the first field guide designed to be continuously upgraded. In mountain environments, trail markings, routes, and accessibility change — improving or becoming more complex. The authors have enabled the book to connect with the website topoguide.gr.

Thus, each route includes a QR code that links to a dedicated page on topoguide.gr. The book’s route pages on the website are constantly updated based on the authors’ latest field research and reliable information. Furthermore, these pages are enriched with new material, offering additional details that could not fit within the printed book. With this innovative solution and the dedication of its creators, this hybrid guidebook never becomes outdated and accompanies mountaineers on their journeys, always current and continuously expanding.

As the authors point out, the guide OLYMPUS – 60 Routes aims to revive within visitors a vision of Olympus worthy of its stature as a global symbol. Nikos Nezis, who signs the introductory foreword, describes the work as a landmark reference in the bibliography of Mount Olympus.
