Pelion is one of the charming parts of Greece, with beautiful landscapes, picturesque villages and rich history. It is a peninsula that separates the Pagasitic Gulf from the Aegean Sea. Administratively, it is part of the Magnesia Regional Unit. The landscapes of Pelion impress the visitor as they combine mountain and sea. On the new map of Anavasi, there are all the suggested routes as well as all the beaches and villages in the area.
The journey to the green landscapes of Pelion starts from Volos. The first stop is Anakasia, a picturesque village with a panoramic view of the Pagasitic Gulf. In the village is the Museum of Theophilos. Going uphill, the visitor encounters Portaria, a picturesque village that is famous for its beautiful views and picturesque cobblestone streets.
From the village begins a dense network of paths to Makrinitsa, Chania and other neighboring villages.After Portaria, Makrynitsa follows, one of the most beautiful villages in Greece, with a beautiful view that even reaches the mountains of Mount Othrys. In Makrynitsa, the visitor deserves to walk along the beautiful cobbled streets of the village and enjoy the local cuisine of the area with a view of Pagasitikos.
Leaving the city of Volos, this time to the east, the visitor encounters Ano Lechonia. It is a beautiful village that is now the starting point of the Pelion Railway. The station of Ano Lechonia is a jewel for the village as it was designed by Evaristo De Chirico. The train of Pelion is a trademark for the entire region. The route it traverses is highly impressive. What makes the route special is the fact that this line is one of the narrowest in the world. At the same time, it has been operating for over 110 years, connecting the villages of Pelion all these years. Unfortunately, nowadays the connection with Volos has been cut and the routes run between Milia and Ano Lechonia. Arriving in Milies, the visitor faces a picturesque village flooded with plane trees and pines. Milies is famous for its railway station, which has been operating since 1896. Around Milies you must visit Vyzitsa, a village with many well-preserved mansions as well as Pinakates and Agios Georgios Nileas.

Perhaps what makes Pelion attractive is the combination of sea and Mountain. After the visitor "climbs" in Chania, one of the highest villages of Pelion, he will then descend towards Zagora. Zagora is a picturesque village with a beautiful view of the Aegean. In the past it was an economic and spiritual center of Thessaly. The village is famous for its apples and there is a cooperative. In the wider area of Zagora you will find beautiful beaches with clear blue waters such as Agioi Saranda, Agios Ioannis and Horefto. However, Zagora is an ideal village for hikers as paths to Keramidi, Puri via Mount Mavrovuni start from there. Descending towards the South, the visitor encounters the picturesque villages of Makrirrachis, Anilio to end up at the beautiful Kissos. It is a picturesque village with traditional mansions, while Rigas Feraios taught there. Various paths start from the village that cross the verdant eastern side of Pelion towards the Ski Center. South of Kissos, Tsagarada is found. In the village there is the oldest plane tree that has adorned the village for a millennium. From the village begins a road that leads to some of the most charming beaches of Thessaly such as Fakistra, Damouhari and Mylopotamos.
Having crossed the verdant side of Pelion, South Pelion is next. The area is suitable for someone who wants to enjoy a peaceful holiday in nature. An important administrative center of the region is Argalasti, a picturesque village with a beautiful square with a plane tree offering shade to its visitors. Continuing south, a reference point is Lafkos where in this picturesque village there is the oldest coffee shop that has been operating non-stop since 1785. Outside Lafko you will find Promyri, a quiet village with picturesque houses of Pelioreite architecture. All over South Pelion, the villagers deal with the olive tree. The whole area of South Pelion differs from the North side. The landscape becomes more Mediterranean compared to the verdant northern part. All along the eastern side of South Pelion there are beautiful beaches such as Potistika, Potoki, Paltsi and Mikro which are famous for their clear water and calmness. Along the southwestern coast of Pelion there are beautiful seaside resorts such as Horto, Milina, Kalamos and Lefokastro. The last stop on the trek to Pelion is the area of Trikeri. In the area there is the picturesque fishing village of Agia Kyriaki.
