Pelion is famous for its green landscapes, picturesque villages and beautiful coasts. At the same time, it is also a hiking paradise with kilometers of paths that are worth crossing. Northern Pelion is one of the most pristine parts of Greece with dense vegetation in the largest part, which is crossed by paths and cobblestones. On the map of Pelion published by Anavasi, some routes are recorded that are worth crossing in the area. Among the dozens of paths that cross Northern Pelion, the doctor-hiker Kyriakos Stathakis recommends his favorite ones. Having walked the mountain of the Centaurs for more than 15 years, he created a website walking in pelion containing over 100 hiking routes.

Veneto – Pouri 20km 6hrs 45’

The route crosses one of the unknown parts of Pelion. The route crosses green landscapes, with ravines, stone-built bridges, abandoned settlements and beautiful beaches. The path is part of the O2 national path and is marked.

The hiker, after leaving the village of Veneto, follows the road to the South. It then leaves the road following a course on a path for at least 4 hours. The vegetation at the beginning is sparse with a few bushes and trees emerging along the route.Descending the hiker after crossing Kacorema, he will ascend to a rocky plateau that leads him to an abandoned corral. From there begins a beautiful route parallel to the sea. The hiker through this route can enjoy the magical view towards the Aegean.

Then the sea caves of Despoti emerge. Following a smooth path over the sea, it finds the Agralexis ravine, which ends at Limnionas beach. The beach consists of pebbles and clear blue waters.Leaving the beach of Limniona, the ascent begins on a verdant slope to Puri. After crossing Kerasorema, the visitor reaches the Perivolia area and continues on a smooth road. After crossing a smooth ravine, it meets the Kapnoutsis stream, over which a beautiful stone-built bridge is visible. Now, the hike takes place on a path, which is passable to the abandoned settlement of Palaia Mitzela. Continuing on the Path, the hiker meets the stream of Lagonika. There, after going down the cobblestones, he meets the picturesque stone-built Diakopi bridge. After continuing, it ends up on the road that leads to Obrios beach and Pouri. There it follows a passable course on a road, until it meets an intersection. Following the path to the right, it ends in a green ravine, Xirorema. Going uphill he meets a spring with running water and then a road. Following the road, it reaches its final destination of Pouri, after having walked through one of the most pristine areas of Pelion.

Pouri – Horefto 4,7km 1hr 25’

It is a route which in its long length crosses a coastal area. Starting from Pοuri, the hiker follows the cobblestone road that initially leads to the road that leads to Zagora from there, ignoring the asphalt road and continuing straight on a downhill path. The landscape on this route is lush with vegetation and a beautiful view of the Aegean. After walking for a while on a path, you come across an intersection where on the left it leads to the small church of Agios Ioannis. However, he chooses to continue on the path to the right that takes him to the asphalt road to Elitsa beach.From Elitsa beach it continues a little further along the road to Analipsi. From this beach starts a path that passes over beautiful beaches. Going uphill, the path reaches the church of Agios Nikolaos and continues towards Tourkopigi Beach. From there he follows the path that takes him to Parisaina beach. In the middle of the route (Tourkopigi - Parisaina) he meets a shrine from which he can admire a beautiful view. After reaching the beach, he crosses it all the way to the end, until he meets the asphalt road that leads to Horeftos. From Parisaina to Horefto, the entire route is on a smooth asphalt road.

Pouri – Tria Gefyria 20km 7hrs

The route crosses one of the virgin parts of Pelion in a beech forest. Starting from Pouri and following the uphill dirt road, the hiker ends up at an intersection of three roads. From there follow the narrowest road to the right. The route to the bridge of Poros meets many intersections. The hiker ignores all downhill cobblestones and moves straight ahead. After a few kilometers, the road turns into a cobblestone road that leads to the bridge of Poros. Going uphill from there, it intersects with the road that leads to the Ano Poros pit. It is worth noting that from this point one must admire the beautiful view. Continuing to the right, it goes down a vague path that has markings until it ends at the Palavogianni stream. After crossing it, going uphill he meets the small church of Agios Georgios. He can stop at the chapel. From there, continuing, it ends up at an intersection towards Kokkikogeia, but turns right and continues on a road until the intersection that leads to Veneto and Pouri.
There it meets the Kapnoutsis stream, over which a beautiful stone-built bridge is projected. Now, the hike takes place on a path, which is passable to the abandoned settlement of Palaia Mitzela. Makrinitsa – Stagiates – Portaria 8,5km 3hrs 20’

The route passes through the most famous villages of Pelion, Portaria and Makrinitsa. On this route the visitor encounters ravines, green landscapes and picturesque cobblestones.

The route starts from the village of Makrinitsa. After crossing the cobbled streets of the village, it descends towards Mega stream. There is a wooden bridge that leads through the verdant landscape to the village of Stagiata. After leaving the village, follow the cobbled cobblestones that lead to a passable concrete road. After a few kilometers of walking on a passable road, there is a path that leads to Makrinitsa Portaria road. Leaving the asphalt road, the route continues through the green landscape. After a few kilometers of hiking on a path, the visitor crosses the stream of Mana through the wooden bridge. The route follows an uphill course towards Portaria.

Aghios Georgios – Kissos 11,2km 4hrs 30’

This route crosses the central part of Pelion, passing through virgin forests. The starting point of this course is the village of Agios Georgios. The hiker follows the cobblestones of the village which quickly leads him out of the village. From there starts a dirt road with an uphill course. After a few kilometers the path ends at a road. But, to reach the top of Schizouravli, you need to leave the road and walk again on a path. After passing a spring, you will reach an intersection that leads to the top of Monastiraki with an altitude of 1,275 meters. From there begins a downhill path that crosses a virgin forest full of beech and chestnut trees. From the top to Kissos, the entire route takes place in the verdant slope. Following the marked path, it meets Mega stream (Kissiotiko) where it crosses it. It then crosses a road that leads back to the stream. From there, an uphill path begins in a chestnut forest. It follows this path until the small church of Prophet Ilias. From there, Kissos is a few kilometers away.

Aghios Georgios – Tsagkarada 14,5km, 5hrs 30’

This route crosses the central part of Pelion, passing through virgin forests. The starting point of this course is the village of Agios Georgios. The hiker follows the cobblestones of the village which quickly leads him out of the village. From there starts a dirt road with an uphill course. After a few kilometers the path ends at a road. But, to reach the top of Schizouravli, you need to leave the road and walk again on a path. After passing a spring, you will reach an intersection that leads to the top of Monastiraki with an altitude of 1,275 meters. There it intersects with the rest of the paths that lead to Chania and Kissos.
Following the right course, it continues through the verdant forest and after passing by the Skitzouravli peak, it will reach Dramala (1,455 meters) where it can admire the view towards the Aegean. From there begins a downhill path that leads him to an intersection with a sign. Following the direction - indication to Tsagarada, a downhill path begins in the forest. After many hours of hiking in virgin forest, he ends up on a road that leads him to Tsagarada.

Chania – Tsagkarada 15,km 5hrs 20’

The route starts from the ski and crosses one of the most pristine parts of Pelion. Much of the route takes place in beech forests, while in many places the hiker can admire views. Leaving the ski resort, the hiker follows a path towards the Agriolefkes peak with an altitude of 1,470 meters. From there begins a downhill path through a beech forest that ends in a clearing in the Golgothas area from where he can enjoy view. Crossing a few kilometers, it reaches Monastiraki where the paths to Agios Georgios and Kissos cross. Following a straight path, it continues through the verdant forest and after passing by the Skitzouravli peak, it will reach Dramala (1,455 meters) where it can admire the view towards the Aegean. From there begins a downhill path that leads him to an intersection with a sign. Following the direction - indication to Tsagarada, a downhill path begins in the forest. After many kilometers of hiking in thick forest, he ends up on a road that leads him to Tsagarada.

Chania – Makrirrachi 8,5km, 2hrs 30’

Leaving the village of Chania, the hiker follows the road in the direction of Zagora until reaching the intersection leading to the Ski Center. After turning at the intersection, continue to the first Parking lot where a path will appear on the left. It follows the path that crosses one of the most beautiful parts of Pelion. During this route you will encounter many waterfalls. The trail, having a downhill course and markings, initially leads to the location of Nisaki and the Kinigos Refuge. There he meets an intersection at which he will follow a left direction to end up on a path again. After walking for a while on a path, you reach another junction which leads to the Plakotura Falls. He can make a stop there. Continuing, he follows an uphill path to the second Poros waterfall. Having crossed the stream, he meets an intersection and heading to the right he ends up on a cobblestone path that leads him to the third waterfall, that of the Kavouria. At this point the hiker crosses the stream which follows the road that initially takes him to the church of Zoodochos Pigi and then to the intersection with the road that leads to Tsagarada on the right and to Makrirachi on the left. Following the asphalt road to the left, you will come across the first houses of Makrirrachi.

Makrinitsa – Veneto 24km, 8hrs 45’

This route crosses almost all of central Pelion. Starting from Makrynitsa, the hiker follows the uphill cobblestone that starts from the square and after crossing the entire village reaches a crossroads. There he follows the concrete road which goes uphill. After some time of walking, he comes to an intersection where he continues straight on the narrow road (path). From there starts an uphill path which then descends and moves in the same straight line as a stream.The path ends at Panagia Pournari where it intersects with other paths. Moving straight, the path descends slightly until it ends at the place Nífis Mnima where the paths from Phytoko and Koukourava meet. Now begins a vague uphill path which is marked. On the way, the hiker can admire the view towards the Monastery of Sourvias. The path begins to descend. As far as the bridge of Lestiani, he comes across an intersection which he ignores.Then he reaches the bridge and after crossing it he will meet Panagia Lestiani. There it intersects with a road leading to Agios Nikolaos on the right and Kerasia on the left. Following the straight path, you reach the Monastery of Sourvias through a virgin oak forest. From the monastery begins the path that heads north through a beech forest. After a few kilometers of hiking on a path, you will come across an intersection that leads to Ano Kerasia. There, following the road, it is projected to the left, where following it, it reaches Flamouriou Monastery.After the Monastery, it intersects with a path that leads to the Alphonse Monument, while further down there is another intersection towards Agios Nikolaos. Turning right, follow the path to reach Petrialos, a plateau with a beautiful view. Continuing on a marked path, it reaches Kacorema and after crossing it, it continues through the forest of Aradia to finally end up on a dirt road that leads to Veneto. The dirt road turns and follows the path on the left that leads to the center of the village.

Milies – Tsagkarada – Damouchari 14,2km, 4hrs 50’

This route is one of the most beautiful routes in Pelion as it passes through forests to end up at the beach of Damouharis. Leaving the square of Milia, the hiker moves uphill towards the end of the village. There begins a cobblestone path that leads to a stream. After crossing the stream the cobblestone widens following an uphill course. After a few kilometers, paths start to appear leading to Milies and Vyzitsa. However, he ignores them by continuing straight at the intersection. From this point the route takes place in a dense beech and chestnut forest. On the way he meets an intersection that leads to Xourichti on the right. Continuing on, he passes streams to reach an intersection where he turns right. After a short walk on cobblestones, it ends at a triple junction where it continues straight. This path passes over the village of Xurichti and, descending, meets the road that leads directly to Tsagarada. As far as Tsagarada, the road is paved.

Arriving in Tsagarada, the hiker follows the road that leads to the square of Agia Paraskevi with the famous century-old plane tree. A little further down it turns at the turn to Damouhari and begins a cobblestone road that alternates with a cement road to lead to Agia Kyriaki.From there it continues on the cobblestone that leads to a stream. After passing the stream, it begins to descend, seeing Damouhari from above. The cobbled road ends at Halorema where there is a wooden bridge. Crossing it, it reaches Damouhari.

Ano Kerasia – Alfons monument – Flamouri Monastery 14,5km, 5hrs 25’

It is a circular route where the visitor walks through the virgin forests of Mavrovouni. The route starts from Ano Kerasia, where following the cobblestone road leads the visitor out of the village. From there begins a cobblestone path that crosses a stream and then intersects with another path that ends in the Veneto. Continuing straight, the path climbs through a forest to end up in the Costa Rachi area where there is an intersection that leads to Kerasia. Continuing to the left, the hiker follows the road that leads to an intersection with the direction to Moni Sourvias on the right and straight to the Alphons monument.He ignores any path and continues straight on the road until he ends up at the Monument. From there begins a stony path which descends to meet the path that leads to Flamouriou Monastery. At this intersection turn left in the direction of the Monastery. After passing the Monastery, it meets an intersection where it continues straight. After hiking on a path, the hiker meets a dirt road that leads to the area of ​​Kato Goura. Up to this point he walks along the dirt road, ignoring any path to the right and left. 
After two intersections, at the third there is a spring at which it turns left to end up on a path again. From there, a downhill path begins next to a stream and then reaches Ano Kerasia again.

Veneto – Kamari, 8km, 3hrs

The route crosses a virgin forest in North Pelion while the visitor crosses several streams along the way. Starting from Veneto we follow the concrete road to the north which then becomes cobblestone. The cobblestone path crosses a beautiful forest. After a short walk, the visitor meets the Trano Rema stream, which after crossing it reaches a plateau, Ta Schismata, from which a beautiful view can be enjoyed. From there it continues north where it will cross the Platanakos stream. The trail after the stream widens and climbs.After passing another stream, it meets the abandoned settlement of Portokalyva. From there the path descends towards Araporrema and ascends again. After crossing the other stream, he comes across a door which he opens to end up at the end of the path. The path ends at a road that leads to the beach of Kamari.

Aghios Lavrentios – Aghios Vlassios, 4km, 1hr 20’

It is a short route that connects these two villages. The route starts from Agios Lavrentios. The hiker climbs onto cobblestones where it then leads to a dirt road. Then the dirt road narrows and turns into a path. Then it will meet the stream of Koufala where it crosses it to end up in the small church of Agios Ioannis. In the chapel there is a spring with drinking water. Leaving the little church, a few kilometers down he will see an abandoned hut with a mill and running water. From there the hike runs smoothly next to a concrete pit. A few meters later the path ends and leads to a road that leads to the village of Agios Vlasios.
