Round Table & Opening of Art Exhibition

Alpinism and Mountains between France and Greece:

Values – Community – Evolution

Anavasi Editions and the French Institute of Greece invite you to an evening they are co-organizing about climbing and alpinism as cultural and historical practices, as well as a source of artistic inspiration.

ROUND TABLE

Climbing and alpinism are much more than sports. They are cultural and human practices that invite us to connect with nature, push our limits, and share fundamental values. Alpinism is now recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO, far exceeding the framework of a simple sport. Together with climbing, they embody rich cultural practices, carrying deep values and rooted in a close relationship with the mountains.

The round table will examine the themes of climbing and alpinism as cultural and historical practices and as a source of artistic inspiration, and will then move on to accounts of ascents, as well as a discussion on how to preserve natural areas and promote responsible tourism.
